Safety Star Media is pleased to announce the publication of its much anticipated, critically acclaimed book by New York City child abuse and sex crimes prosecutor Jill Starishevsky, My Body Belongs to Me. To date, orders have been received from 48 states and 6 countries. My Body Belongs to Me can make a difference and help keep children safe from sexual predators.

Using her decade of experience, Ms. Starishevsky has crafted a book that speaks to children - it makes them aware that when it comes to their bodies, there are boundaries. It assures them that it’s OK to tell a parent or teacher if someone touches their “private parts.”

A book geared toward children ages three to ten that tells the story of a child who is touched by an uncle's friend and tells a parent. Children will respond to the rhyming text and bright illustrations. Parents and educators will find it a vital tool to initiate a lifesaving dialogue.

The overriding message of My Body Belongs to Me is that if someone touches you, tell. Just as we teach youngsters what to do in case of fire, we must teach them what to do if someone touches them inappropriately.

Sadly, the overwhelming majority of sexually abused children don’t immediately disclose the abuse. As a result, the abuse often escalates. There are many reasons for a child's silence. Without being taught that his or her body has boundaries, a child may be too young to understand that the abuse is wrong.

Parents often don't know when or how to approach this topic with their children. My Body Belongs to Me is a tool that aims to facilitate this difficult discussion in a straightforward yet sensitive manner. The "Suggestions for the Storyteller" provide invaluable tips and discussion topics to reinforce the book's message.
