1. Why is it important to have a license plate on my stroller?
Most workers who provide important services are monitored in today’s world - police offices wear badges, health care providers are drug tested, teachers are given year-end reviews. Why shouldn’t a nanny taking care of our children have some oversight? In essence, the license plates are just another precaution to ensure the safety of our children, much like installing childproof locks on your cabinets, protective covers on your outlets or gates at the top of your stairs.
2. How does HowsMyNanny.com ensure the reliability of reports and protect against false reports?
HowsMyNanny.com has several built-mechanisms to ensure the reliability of reports. First, the reporter can choose to make a report giving their name, phone number and e-mail address to the member. Second, if a person chooses to report anonymously, the report is only anonymous to the member. The operator of the site will still have the reporter's name, e-mail address and phone number, as these are required fields to file both an incident or praise report. Because the operator has this information, the operator is able to contact the reporter and verify the information, acting as a liaison, should that be necessary. Further, the incident and praise reports require one to input where the event occurred, when the event occurred and other relevant information, thereby minimizing the ability of a reporter to file a false report. Lastly, the site tracks e-mail addresses. If one address sends more than three reports within a designated period of time, the operator of the site will be notified and can investigate the matter.
3. Is the use of the license plates spying on your nanny?
Unlike the nanny-cam, the license plate is out in the open for all to see, including the nanny. The license plate is a simple to use and unobtrusive method to ensure the well being of our children. The overwhelming response from the nannies is that they have no problem having a license plate put on their stroller as they are professionals and have nothing to hide. (See Op/Ed article from New York Daily News on the media page of this site.) More than anyone, nannies often observe the neglectful treatment of some caregivers, so they are pleased that there is now a way to report such incidences. Furthermore, most nannies welcome the opportunity to receive praise, which enables their employers to learn of the wonderful job that they are doing.

6. How can I help to get the word out about HowsMyNanny.com?

7. Where on my stroller should the license plate go?
We recommend that you attach your plate to the lower front or lower side of your stroller in a location where there is a solid bar that does not bend when the stroller is collapsed.
8. What will prevent a nanny from covering or removing the license plate when she/he goes out?
Proper placement of the license plate, at the lower front or lower side of the stroller, will prevent the license plate from being covered. Each license plate comes with plastic cable ties used to attach the plate to the stroller. The cable ties lock so they cannot be removed unless they are cut off.
9. What happens after an incident or praise report is filed?
An e-mail message is sent to the member informing them that an incident or praise report has been filed. The member then signs on to HowsMyNanny.com using their password and can then view and print the report.
